What changes did Ambroise Pare bring about?

Ambroise Pare, a French man, is widely concidered the grateset surgeon of the sixteenth century. In 1536, Pare joined the army as a regimental surgeon and soon became so famous that before the end of the his career, he had acted as a surgeon to four French king as well.

It was during a siege that Pare made his great discovery. At that time, gunshot wound were a new medical condition. They were considered poisonous, and routinely treared by sealing them with boiling oil. When Pare ran out of oil during siege, he turned instead to simple dressings and soothing ointment and immediately noted the improved condition of his patients.Pare popularized this revolutionary treatment in his treatise 'Method of Treating Wound' in 1545.His second important contribution to medicine was his promotion of ligature, or typing of blood vessels, to prevent bleeding during amputations.

Pare's greatest accomplishment, aside from actually coming up eith neew surgical techniques, was to spread this information among other surgeons ,elevation surgery's status to a professional level, and paving the way for vast improvements in surgical care.
