What is the impotance of the thermometer in medicine?

In the earliest days of the medical profession, no device existed to measure a patient's body temperature. Evaluating a patient's body temperature depended totaly on the doctor's personal method of observation.

A medical thermometer is one of that is used to measure the temperature of human bodies. The first thermometer was inventend by Galileo in the 16th century.However, it was only a hundred year later, that a thermometer which could easily beused by doctor, was introduced by Daniel Fahrenheit. He invented an alcohol thermometer in 1709, and the mercury thermometer in 1714.

As time progressed, thermometers became smaller, faster, and more easy to use. New thermometer are being designed that can read a patient's temperature using infrared technology, for a fast and accurate reading.
