Father of Modern Medicine
Hippocrates, a physician from the island of Kos in ancient Greece, is known as 'Father of Modern Medicine'. Hippocrates was given credit for healing many important people such as Macedonia's king, whom he had treated for tuberculosis. His dedeication to healing was tested when he fought the plague in Athens for 3years from 430-427 BC.

Later hippocrates thought medicine, and started a school for medicine in Kos around 400BC. one of the main thing that he thaught was that it was important to keep a record of the patient's condition and symptopm. He did not belive in superstition, but based his medicine practice on observations and on the study of the human body.
A body of writing that has been attributed to Hippocrates is the Hippocratic Corpus. It contain 60 treatises, and they are concidered to be the oldest book about medicine. The Hippocratic Oath is a docuement or medical practice ethics and morals that is also credited to him.
